CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — Walter Davis, a five-time NBA All-Star who had his number retired by the Phoenix Suns, has died. Davis was star in college for North Carolina where he played for the late Dean Smith. It was North Carolina, where Davis' nephew Hubert Davis is the Tar Heels' basketball coach, which announced Water Davis' death Thursday. The school's release said Walter Davis died Thursday morning of natural causes while visiting famil y in Charlotte, North Carolina. A Louisiana man was jailed for forcing minors to work long hours baking and selling brownies. The Department of Justice said Friday that Darnell Fulton was sentenced to 35 years in prison. A DoJ official said forced labor was "heinous conduct" and would not be tolerated. He was jailed Friday for 35 years for crimes including conspiracy to commit forced labor. "This sentence demonstrates the Justice Department's commitment to standing up for the survivors of forced labor schemes.

Bed Bath & Beyond is closing around 150 stores and laying off staff. It has now named 56 of the stores set to close across 21 states. By laying off staff and closing the stores, the company said it planned to reduce costs by $250 million in 2022. Sales in the second quarter had slumped roughly 26% compared to the same period in 2021, Bed Bath & Beyond said in preliminary earning results. The struggling retailer has now revealed the location of 56 of the stores being closed, spanning 21 states and Puerto Rico.
